Assembly Item

Today my class performed in front of the school for our assembly item.

We did a quiz show about the universe and some of the questions we just made them up.there was a host, a quiz master and mad scientists. I was one of the mad scientists. we had some problems with sound but we got it fixed. Some of the questions were why do we have day and night. Two would be made up and one would be true.

Most of the kids were nervous but I was excited. In fact I really wanted to get up on stage right now!
But when it was my turn I was really nervous because everyone was staring at me! Luckily I was really brave and I said my lines without making a mistake. And without the script!

I was really happy with my performance because I was really brave and I said my lines without the script.

I felt great after my performance because I did good.

The Water Cycle

the water cycle

Introduction
The water cycle is very important. The water helps grow the food we eat. Without it we would be dead. Earth will be just a desert with no life or water.

Evaporation
The water cycle starts off as just water. The heat of the sun evaporates the water and it rises up into a cloud. This is called evaporation. eg: If I left a glass of water in the sun and go away four hours this happens. The water has evaporated And became a cloud.

Condensation
Inside the cloud the water drops push together creating bigger drops. The drops continue to travel up until they get too heavy and gravity pulls it down.

Precipitation
inside the cloud the drops get heavier and heavier until the drops start pouring down. this is called precipitation.
if the drops go further up the freeze and that creates hail and snow.

Run-off
when the water hits land the water travels out to sea or becomes groundwater. this is called run-off.

Conclusion

now you know all about the water cycle. it is important to earth in many different ways.

Beach

Beach

Wizzzzzzzzz, splash!
My line cast out for the third time. Zip! I wound my line in and just as suspected, the bait had disappeared.
My dad came up to me, laughing. he showed me his bait. it was only skeletons. there must be piranhas in there he laughed.

I sighed and went back to fishing. The only thing we had caught today was a crab and a clam.
Laura, my friend, Sophie from Rotorua, little sister, was  continuing her unsuccessful plan on catching the little cockabullys on the rocks.

I was trying to find out the mystery of the disappearing bait. so far, I’m not having any luck.
I decided to annoy Laura, so I threw all her bait in the water. Laura threw a fit and jumped in the water. Splash! No one took any notice of her, so I watched the cockabullys devorer the bait. They never get caught I thought. that means….. That they are the ones stealing the bait! I’m glad that I found out the mystery.

Flaxrock

Wow I said as I entered flax rock. The walls loomed over me like a flower looming over a ant. I watched the other people climb. it looked tiring. If I had some wings I would fly up there, put some doughnuts up there and mostly everyone will get to the top.

I went over to Mr Fords wall. This must be the hardest wall I thought, as I looked up. While I was watching Josiah climb, I noticed that John had climbed to the top. wow I breathed, he must be related to a monkey or a spider Mr Ford said.
When it was my turn, Mr Ford harnessed me on and I walked to the wall. At first I was going up smoothly, but then I slowed down a bit and I started to struggle. Come on, one more rock Mr Ford urged me on.
I tried to remember what I did last time I climbed but I guess my brain was having a coffee break, because I suddenly felt like a new climber.
I looked up. I saw another rock. I reached my hand up and grabbed it.  Come on Mr Ford encouraged me.  Can I come down now I asked.
